Sign On Bonus Available!Regular Full-Time (1.0 FTE)This position is at the L08 level with an hourly pay range of $37.25 to $47.14 (PSAC Bargaining Unit).Reporting to the Manager of Medical Imaging, at Whitehorse General Hospital, the incumbent provides clinical and technical support to Physicians, with remote support of a Radiologist, by performing routine, emergency, and specialized Computed Tomography examinations of patients. Performs venipuncture and contrast media injections. Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots imaging equipment; produces and transmits digital images to Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) for Radiologist/Physician interpretation. Provides emergency callback services. Supports the ongoing quality assurance program and preventative maintenance testing of equipment; training and evaluating Medical Radiological Technologists in Computed Tomography (CT) procedures, administrative/clerical and other related duties.Knowledge and Skills Required:

Knowledge of and proficiency in CT scanning techniques and protocolsKnowledge of and proficiency in VenipunctureKnowledge of and proficiency in contrast media administration including contraindications, reactions, and side effectsKnowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, and pathologyKnowledge of radiation physicsKnowledge of digital imaging equipment (operate, troubleshoot, and adjust as required)Knowledge of Radiation, Health, and Safety RegulationsKnowledge of sterile technique and infection control practicesAbility to recognize and respond to a change in patient conditionAbility to be innovative (adjust equipment and/or patient and modify procedures)Ability to perform post-processing of CT imagesAbility to deal with situations in a professional mannerAbility to establish and maintain effective work relationships with colleagues, peers, patients, and familiesAbility to organize, prioritize, adapt to workload schedule variances, and resolve work-related problemsAbility to keep current with technology changes and aid in implementation of accepted changeAbility to train and orientate other health care professionalsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsThoroughness and attention to detailReliability, self-motivated, and ability to work independently with limited supervisionThe successful applicant will have completed an accredited program in Medical Radiation (CT) Technology, have current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) with Radiological Technologist designation (MRT(R)), current certification in CT Imaging (CTIC), and CPR, and experience operating and maintaining CT imaging-related equipment. The successful applicant will need to obtain certification for Venipuncture for Contrast Media injections within 60 days of hire. Knowledge of the following would be considered an asset for this position: computerized Hospital and Radiology Information systems, Computed and Digital Radiography systems (CR & DR), Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS), and Computed Tomography. A Bachelor of Radiation Science or Bachelor of Technology degree in Medical Imaging would also be considered an asset.
