Overview

As a Network Engineer at Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU), you will be responsible for installations, administration, monitoring, and maintaining company networks and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications as well as ensure the availability of the local and wide area (LAN/WAN) networking infrastructure and manages the network environment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the unified communications across the enterprise, comprised of telephone VOIP, instant messaging, and contact center platforms. This includes ensuring the availability of networking infrastructure, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the network environment.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the network environmentParticipate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for networking systemsCoordinate and collaborate with network engineering, business application, and database administration function to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate networks to meet business demandsCoordinate and participate in the design Virtual Private Network infrastructure to support vendor interconnection requirements in a secure mannerAssist with research on network hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development effortsAssist with Interaction with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and servicesSupport the deployment of workstations, network devices, servers, printers, scanners, firewalls, encryption systems, and all host security systemsAdminister all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, wireless access points, and UPSAssist and administer and maintain telephone equipment, protocols and routing queues necessary to meet business needsPerform network, server and security audits, review logs for errors and trends, and ensure proper function of network infrastructureRecommend and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairsEnsure network connectivity of all workstationsSupport organizational initiatives and goals by participating on project teams and delivering on network related requirementsMonitor help desk database for entries on networking resource issues; prioritize and respond to help desk tickets as appropriate

Qualifications

Associates degree in the field of Information Technology, Computer Science or other technical related field or equivalent experience; Bachelors’ degree preferredMinimum 3 years’ experience as a network administrator supporting LAN/WAN infrastructureCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Route Switch/Enterprise, or CCNA with equivalent work experienceCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Collaboration/Voice and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) SecurityAbility to review and analyze or interpret data and documentation and to make decisions regarding subsequent actionsAbility to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotelyAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance
