Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations by creating, maintaining, and enforcing organizational policies owned by the HIM Department.Oversee HIM Operations leadership team to ensure proper management of:MPI: Resolving potential patient duplicate recordsROI: Ensure proper processing of legal and patient requestsMedical Records: Oversight of analyzing, indexing, prepping, and scanningDeficiencies/Delinquencies: Work closely with MSO to maintain the deficiency and delinquency processTranscription: Oversight of transcription vendor to ensure meeting performance and quality metricsRisk Management: Knowledge of HIPAA, OAR/laws, Joint Commission, and CMS rules around medical record access to information, and release of informationVendor management: Oversee and manage vendors including onsite ROI services, offsite paper records storage, transcription services, Coding/CDI software, contract labor, and other routine vendor relationshipsOversee CDI & Coding leadership team to ensure proper management of:Denials: Coding denials and DRG denialsDNB Management: Coding workflows, CFB, and Coding daysAuditing: Ensure coding accuracy is at an acceptable levelRecord Integrity: Compliant provider queriesContinuous Improvement

Researches, develops, administers, and continuously improves HIM workflows focusing on employee engagement, retention, workforce development, leadership development, and diversity.Strategic Planning

Establishes, coordinates, and communicates departmental objectives and goals consistent with the organization's mission, vision, and values.Compliance/Risk Management

Serves as an internal consultant on health information management issues, providing ongoing consulting to all clinical/business providers.Cross Departmental Collaboration

Engages with colleagues throughout the organization, contributing to planning, problem solving, and system improvement efforts.Fiscal Responsibility

Education:

Master's Degree in HIM, Healthcare Administration, Business or related field required.Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in a healthcare setting, preferably within HIM, including a depth of subject matter expertise.Licenses/Certification/Registration:

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential preferred.Special knowledge, skills, & abilities:

Knowledge of laws, acts, and regulations governing HIM practices and activities; excellent analytical/research skills; strong relationship building and group facilitation skills; proficiency in utilizing Epic, Word, and Excel.Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics is an equal opportunity employer.
