The Vice President of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) is responsible for leading the effective development and implementation of Associated Materials EHS strategy comprised of comprehensive programs to drive a high-performance safety and compliance culture across the company aligned with our vision, values and strategic goals. The VP, EHS leads the development and implementation of behavior-based safety practices; ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agency; and conducts root-cause analysis of EHS incidents.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Develop and execute a forward-thinking multi-year EHS strategy in collaboration with internal stakeholders; align safety objectives with business goals to enhance operational effectiveness.

Provide strategic leadership and guidance to promote a safety-first culture throughout the organization. Engage with executive leadership, managers, and frontline employees to cultivate a shared commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement, integrating safety-first planning across all phases of work.

Lead and inspire action in diverse and rapidly changing business conditions; drive change through effective communication and leadership.

Develop and implement proactive measures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards through in-depth use of data analytics and reporting.

Provide technical direction and guidance to managers and all facility-level staff regarding compliance in EHS.

Establish robust KPIs and reporting metrics with leading and lagging indicators to proactively address risk factors.

Lead cultural change to embrace new and improved safety programs and policies at all levels of the organization.

Drive robust incident reporting mechanisms, conduct thorough investigations, and identify root causes to prevent recurrence.

Responsible for development of comprehensive risk assessments and hazard analyses programs and tools to identify potential safety hazards and mitigate associated risks. Implement risk control measures, safety protocols, and engineering controls to minimize exposure to hazards.

Interface with insurance brokers, carriers, and the Risk Management team for property protection and risk mitigation; collaborate across departments to foster a unified approach to safety and environmental goals.

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of safety and environmental professionals across multiple businesses; inspire and cultivate a high-performance culture that delivers exceptional safety results across all locations.

Drive continuous improvement mindset. Provide thought leadership and inspire change at all levels in the organization with intensity and integrity. Remove barriers through effective problem solving and coordination with internal partners.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or other technically related field

15+ years of experience of progressive experience in EHS roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.

Ability to travel up to 60% of the time throughout North America.

PREFERRED EDUCTION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Professional certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional, preferred.Drive results and delivers on commitments, completing projects on-time, within budget, and with high quality.

Prior experience successfully building and leading teams and developing talent across an EHS organization of direct and matrixed leaders from multiple locations and cultures.

Proven ability to work across organizations, and across international regions and cultures.

Team builder who can coach and mentor team members and work closely with employees on their continued development.

Strategic thinker with creative and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.

Resilient self-starter, who can act independently and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment.

Demonstrated ability to lead and influence a multi-site, geographically disperse team.

Must be able to work strategically without full hierarchical responsibility.

Excellent analytical skills.

Expert in US, OSHA, state, local, and Canadian regulations to ensure compliance.
