Full-time and Part-time flexible hours available for CT Technologists!SUMMARY:According to established policies and procedures, perform and ensure appropriate quality control, provide requested studies of high diagnostic quality based on the specifics of each case, interact effectively and professionally with patients, referring physicians and their staffs, and fellow employees while maintaining the best possible patient flow and throughput at all times. Perform related task such as assisting patients, maintaining and ordering proper levels of supplies, maintaining cleanliness of work areas and performing routine clerical functions as required.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Available as scheduled to provide technologist duties at specified times and places as assigned.Perform required quality control procedures and ensure proper operation of equipment at all times.Must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique.Must possess, utilize and maintain knowledge about radiation protection, safety and current scanning protocols.Coordinate with reception taking the next available patient for efficient patient flow.Receive and greet patient, obtain necessary medical history including questions relating to any possibility of reaction and instructs and informs patient about the procedure.Provide and ensure proper use of protection to unaffected areas of the body from radiation exposure utilizing lead shield in accordance with recognized safety standards.Assist the radiologist when required.Operate equipment according to specific/recognized procedure and in conformance with established routines and techniques. Review images to ensure acceptable quality and completeness for diagnostic purposes.Responsible for immediately reporting any concerns relating to the equipment operation.Provide studies of high quality, coordinating and communicating with the radiologist and referring physician or his staff as required.Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medications, patient history, patient lab values, insufficient patient preparation, or artifacts.Assesses patient risk factors to contrast media, including but not limited to allergic reactions and renal insufficiency.Performs venipuncture, verifies IV patency and maintains IV access.Utilizes accessory equipment including but not limited to the power injector, colon insufflator and AED.Perform QA/QC as required to complete required task and/or to help others and ensure proper flow of patients.Perform QA/QC as required for all CT related equipment, in accordance with RIMI and ACR guidelines.Handle patients in a caring, courteous and professional manner at all times. Evaluation of patient ability to tolerate requested exam(s) and the ability to properly respond to patient reaction to contrast media that may occur.Ensure that images, examination requisitions and other related records are properly completed to ensure correct patient identification, statistical and billing information. Ensure that additional studies are authorized by the referring physician’s offices and properly documented.When supplies are low, order as needed to ensure continuous/efficient operation of the unit.Assist other technologists as needed when time permits.Coordinate with and volunteer assistance to reception and other personnel in areas outside primary areas of responsibility (i.e., patient registration, patient scheduling, answering telephones, posting charges, retrieving files, file relocation, etc.) whenever lulls in technical duties occur.Responsible for maintaining complete and organized records of repairs requested and made on all equipment.Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times. Never give diagnosis or outcome of exam to patient.Responsible for overall cleanliness of the office and clinical areas at all times.Additional duties and projects as assigned.BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Physical dexterity and strength to operate all types of CT and related equipment and properly position patients.Conceptual ability to determine means of providing requested studies based on the specifics of each case.Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress, referring physicians and staff, the radiologist, fellow employees, supplier and service representatives and any and all others who they come in contact with during the course of the business day.Organizational skills as required by the position.Identifying and managing emergency situations.Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide proper patient care.Demonstrated knowledge and skills to perform exams as outlined by governing bodies and RIMI protocol.EDUCATION:High School diploma plus two years of training at an approved school of Radiologic Technology.Must be a registered technologist and have obtained adequate additional training in cross sectional anatomy, injection procedures, contrast media and possible reactions.Obtain and maintain additional accreditation and/or certification (s) required by the State, Federal Government and RIMI within areas of expertise and to personally maintain the highest professional recognition levels available.Submit a copy of yearly CME reports to management.Willingness and ability to cross-train in other modalities.Registered technologist through the ARRT and certified in CT required.Licensed technologist through the State of Rhode Island and certified in CT required.National & State IV Certification required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day. May lift and position patients and supplies up to 50 pounds. Ability to move patients from scanner table and transport patients in wheelchairs and/or stretchers. Ability to crouch, reach and lift to allow appropriate manipulation positioning and placement of ancillary equipment.Join an award-winning organization!
