Job Description:

As a Lead Network Cable Technician at Aegis Solutions Group, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining low-voltage cabling systems for data, voice, video, and security applications. From pulling and routing cat6 cables to installing networking and security equipment, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless functioning of our clients' systems. Collaborating closely with our backend engineering team, you will uphold industry standards and best practices to deliver high-quality results.

Work Region:

Northern Illinois – Primarily north of Chicago with occasional exceptions.

Responsibilities:

Pull, route, and terminate copper cabling systems.

Install networking and security equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and cameras.

Initial programming of the above equipment.

Collaborate with technicians and staff to ensure successful project completion.

Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Troubleshoot and resolve cabling and network connectivity issues.

Document all installations and changes according to company policies.

Maintain an inventory of necessary equipment and materials.

Provide technical support to customers and end-users as needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Relevant technical certifications preferred (e.g., BICSI Installer, CompTIA Network+).

1-2 years of experience in low voltage cabling installation and maintenance.

Experience in both residential and commercial settings is advantageous.

Familiarity with Fiber Optic systems is a plus.

Strong knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards.

Ability to interpret building plans and cabling schematics.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Proficiency with computers, access control and surveillance software and MS Office is required.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.

Capability to stand, kneel, and crawl as necessary.

Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights using ladders and lifts.

Experience:

Low voltage cabling: 1-2 years minimum.
