Mortgage Division Controller

to join our fast-paced and exciting team at our corporate office in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania.What is the opportunity?The Mortgage Division Controller position is responsible for managing the financial operations of the mortgage division, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective financial planning and analysis. This role involves overseeing accounting functions, preparing financial statements, managing budgets, operational and regulatory reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making processes.What are the primary responsibilities?Financial Reporting:

Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial statementsEnsure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policiesCoordinate and manage audits

Accounting Operations:

Supervise and manage the accounting team and oversee daily accounting operationsMaintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and proceduresDevelop and maintain spreadsheets used to complete department functionsReport and analyze key company metricsPrepare and review journal entries, financial reports, variance analysis, and operational reporting

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Develop and manage the annual budgeting processProvide financial forecasts and variance analysisMonitor and report on financial performance against budgets and forecasts

Cash Management:

Manage cash flow and warehouse lines to ensure liquidityOversee treasury functions including banking relationships and investment strategies

Internal Controls and Compliance:

Implement and maintain effective internal controlsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirementsOversee and manage financial audits and examinationsPrepare regulatory reporting

Strategic Planning:

Support senior management with financial planning and strategic decision-makingProvide financial analysis and insights to drive business growth and profitabilityParticipate in long-term planning and strategic initiativesCollaborate with Division President and other leadership team members for process improvement efforts driven to standardized processes in all aspects of operations

Team Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting teamFoster a collaborative and high-performance work environmentProvide training and development opportunities for team members

Bachelor’s Degree in AccountingMinimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership roleExperience in a mortgage or finance company with a strong knowledge of mortgage operations and terminologyExtensive knowledge of accounting and finance practicesThorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically ExcelConfident working closely with Sr Management and corporate leadershipStrong working knowledge of GAAPExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsStrong leadership and team management skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsHigh level of integrity and professionalism

Preferred:

Experience using JD Edwards / E1 G/L and Encompass Loan Origination SystemStrong systems technical aptitude to assist with IT solutions

Work Environment:This position operates in a professional office environmentThis is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days per week in our Ft. Washington office.
