Federal Work Study Program

(FWS) is a federally-funded financial aid program that provides subsidized part-time employment for eligible students in order to assist them with postsecondary financial needs.PRIMARY OBJECTIVEThe FWS program encourages students to gain experience in their prospective fields by placing them in areas and departments aligned with their area of study whenever possible. Students are able to use their wages towards educational and living expenses.JOB SUMMARYReporting to the current Executive Director of Scholarship Services at the CCC Foundation (CCCF), the Work Study Student will possess a natural curiosity, openness, and a strong desire to acquire new skills. The student will support the CCCF team with resource development activities, including donor gift stewardship and communication activities. The position requires attention to detail as work will include data entry, list maintenance, and communications such as scheduling social media posts. Must have excellent communication skills as the student may interact with donors and CCC/CCCF leadership. Performs related duties as required. Training will be provided.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Provides general administrative support to the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) Foundation.Assist in the maintenance and accuracy of the Foundation’s donor database by:Enter information into the relationship management system (Bloomerang).Locate and correct data entry errors or report them to supervisor.Perform internet research on individuals and/or organizations as directed.Assist with scheduling social posts and updating social calendar.May be asked to monitor Foundation general email and redirect to individuals or departments.Donor Gift StewardshipAssist with maintenance of Blackbaud Awards Management Systems.Assist in the creation of vendor memos for check request and check deposits.Scan documents and file them as instructed.May enter data into financial tracking mechanisms.General SupportMaintains donor confidentiality as well as the confidentiality of department projects undertaken.Other related duties as assigned.Education, Training, and ExperienceExperience with database management preferred.Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Skilled in utilizing social media platforms.Knowledge, Skill, and AbilityExcellent attention to detail.Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively and with a passion and skill in a team environment.Strong/intermediate knowledge of MS Excel.Working ConditionsGeneral office environment.Standard office equipment including laptop or desktop computer.Physical RequirementsPrimarily sedentary with intermittent standing, walking, bending, and stooping.Ability to lift up to 30lbs.Worker CharacteristicsInitiative - Demonstrates willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.Curiosity - Interested in learning about resource development and relationship management systems.Analytical Thinker - Analyzes information and uses logic to address or remedy concern.Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively and with a passion and skill in a team environment.Strong/intermediate knowledge of MS Excel.Note: Position requires availability of Mondays and Tuesdays.QUALIFICATIONS:Eligibility Requirements:Applicants must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and be eligible to work in the United States.Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago.Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours pre-credit or credit classes.Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate.Applicants must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students).Applicants must be in “good standing” – no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions.Applicants must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at the City Colleges of Chicago.Knowledge of Microsoft Word/Data Entry.Promotes a positive role model and favorable public image as City Colleges of Chicago representative.Adheres to the City Colleges of Chicago Customer Services Excellence Standards.City Colleges of Chicago is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
