Job Summary
Incumbent decontaminates, operationally checks, assembles, and distributes surgical instrumentation, implants, supplies, and equipment for the OR, Nursing Units, and Ancillary Departments. The Incumbent maintains documentation related to these duties. Incumbent operates and maintains sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, and computer systems related to these duties. This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Required Qualifications
High School graduate, G.E.D. or equivalentCompletion of an SPD certification training program from a recognized institutionGeneral ability to operate machinery including sterilizers, washers, and ultrasonic cleanersThe flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locationsGood communication and customer service skillsBasic knowledge of computer systems including Windows OS, keyboard and mouse operationBasic knowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge of standard precautions for safety and prevention of cross-contaminationThe ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writingThe ability to understand, speak, and write English to communicate with nursing, technical, and medical staffAbility to safely move heavy trays and equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds, and stand for prolonged periods
