OverviewMicrosoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Senior Data Center Systems Engineer, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters in 32 countries and millions of servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

Responsibilities• Derive requirements for data center power and cooling systems based on high level concepts.• Provide make-versus-buy recommendations to management with tradeoffs based on complexity, financial impact, quality, reliability, and time duration.• Create robust, scalable, secure and extensible verification plans for the hardware engineering aspects of data centers.• Drive system engineering analysis of the proposed requirements.• Identify key system inflection points to aid in design specific decisions.• Drive brainstorming sessions for various technical teams in the organization.• Influence and communicate: Lead executive-level communication and influence cross-functional stakeholders.• Lead cross-functional teams to drive implementation of strategic projects: from defining plans, monitoring progress, tracking key metrics, and removing roadblocks to delivering results.• Support Monthly Business Review content and meetings.• Manage work in Azure Dev Ops and associated tracking tools.• Embody our culture and values.
