Job OverviewThe experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for Medical-Surgical Unit III provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
The RN assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assuming responsibility for his/her own professional advancement.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
Responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
Responsible and accountable for the appropriate delegation of patient care to other members of the health care team.
Will act in the capacity of preceptor of charge when needed.
Communicate effectively and collaborate with nurses and other patient care providers.
Integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualize the plan of care to address specific patient needs.
Participate in 50% of unit staff meetings.
Participate in a 50% unit-based committee or 50% of a hospital-wide committee.
Actively participate in performance improvement activities such as monthly data collection, action planning, monitoring or reporting.
Other essential duties as required.
Shift/SchedulePart time, days
Education/Training/Certification/Licensure
BA/BS/BSN degree preferred.
A minimum of 1 year plus Med-Surg experience.
Completion of clinical experience in an NLN accredited school is preferred. Additional experience is required based upon specific department needs.
Current and active NJ RN Licensure required.
Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS is required; a national certificate is preferred.
