Position Overview: The Director, Engineering is responsible for assisting in managing engineering processes and employees across multiple venues. Key responsibilities include overseeing preventative maintenance, providing staff training, developing capital improvement project reports, and identifying sustainability projects. Additionally, the role involves acting as Project Manager for facilities projects, providing Manager on Duty coverage for events, and managing budgets, vendor coordination, and compliance with engineering standards.

Responsibilities:

Assist VP in all engineering processes and leading engineering employees at all covered venues.

Serve as the department's main point of contact at satellite venues.

Directly oversee preventative maintenance and work orders for facility systems to enhance equipment efficiency and operating life at all venues.

Provide accurate training to staff to complete PM's and work orders.

Assist in developing and maintaining Capital Improvement Project reports and recommendations for COA North, MCI, and District E. Continue to assist the Senior Director at Capital One Arena.

Oversee and identify sustainability projects.

Act as Project Manager in coordinating specific minor/major facilities projects for the department.

Provide Manager on Duty coverage of 50-60% of events scheduled at Capital One Arena.

Oversee the set-up of utility services for events.

Communicate and report to the NBA League Office regarding updates on the arena conditions (temperature, relative humidity, and dew point).

Develop and provide department budgetary updates; forecast additional funds needed for capital improvement, staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies. Monitor and acquire approval for all engineering/maintenance-related expenditures. Receive and maintain supplies. Make recommendations for and implement approved budget adjustments as necessary.

Evaluate and recommend savings with internal labor to reduce/save department funds.

Solicit and review cost estimates. Oversee and coordinate the work of outside vendors and contractors.

Oversee all MSE-assigned facilities to achieve performance targets, identify potential challenges, and plan corrective actions/standard processes accordingly.

Approve payroll worksheets for departmental personnel.

Establish annual budgets and tracking expenses against budget periodically as specified.

Develop and implement plans and schedules to achieve company and department goals.

Assist in the overall management of services and activities involved in the facility's engineering, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and trades.

Assist in developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of assigned programs and functions.

Deliver implemented health, safety, and environmental policies and practices within the area of infrastructure.

Establish and monitor work performance and safety standards by conducting weekly facility inspections.

Ensure compliance with the facility's engineering standards and reporting requirements.

Attend required internal and external meetings.

Follow MSE reporting protocols for all commercial, costing, and billing.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

5+ years of prior experience in a management role in facilities/engineering.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

Attention to detail, organizational skills, problem solving abilities, and creative thinking skills in a fast-paced work environment.

Experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing).

Prior work in an arena that has combined two sports, preferably basketball and hockey.

Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Pay Range: $110-125k USD.
