Manager Laboratory

Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Manager. The Lab Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Services, with a primary focus on quality patient care. In keeping with the standards of the College of American Pathologists, the Manager of Laboratory Services will supervise high complexity testing, including being responsible for the day-to-day supervision or oversight of the laboratory operation and personnel performing testing and reporting testing results. The Manager will also provide leadership for employees within Laboratory Services by role modeling professional standards and continuously collaborate with members of the health care team to maximize positive patient outcomes while ensuring a cohesive team approach to patient needs. The Manager may complete clinical hours in addition to designated non-clinical hours as necessary to meet the needs of patients and the department.Essential Functions:Provides leadership to Laboratory Services Staff members.Demonstrates the ability to work with others in a team environment & build rapport with staff.Demonstrates effective conflict resolution; completing promptly & privately.Demonstrates a positive & professional attitude with proven leadership skills.Follows the standards of the College of American Pathologists.License/Education Requirements:CPR and Basic First Aid preferred.Registry with ASCP, HEW, AMT, or ASMT is required.A bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science with at least four years of experience in high complexity testing OR an Associate Degree in laboratory science or medical technology program with at least six years' experience in high complexity testing.Schedule:Must be able to work Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday, Sunday, and holiday coverage required. Hours are dependent on customer and department needs. Flexibility will be needed. The Manager must be able to travel amongst Cary's locations and contract sites as necessary to perform work functions.
