Job DescriptionThe primary purpose of the Plant Controller is to provide management, both corporate and plant, with accurate and timely accounting and financial analysis support to assist in making informed production, sales and marketing decisions and to direct an accounting staff of six team members.The responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:Lead, coach, engage and professionally develop team members with a focus on developing functional, interpersonal, and leadership skillsPrepare plant budgets and forecastsDevelop and maintain effective cost reporting and accounting mechanisms for production and inventory expendituresAnalyze production, inventory, and labor costs - working with plant leadership to recommend and implement cost-saving opportunities.Oversee fixed asset management - capitalizing, transferring, and retiring assets as needed. Supervise annual fixed asset audit and prepare capital expenditure requests for the plant.Maintain accurate inventory records and administer plant cycle counting programPost transactions to the General Ledger and otherwise assist in month-end closing and preparation of monthly financial statementsEnsure POs and invoices are properly coded to the correct general ledger accounts and work with AP department on timely paymentsAssist in the evaluation and modification of accounting policy and procedure to increase accounting productivitySupport new item setup and costing of bill of materialsPresent plant financial results to senior leadership on a monthly basisAssist the corporate cost accounting team in the development of periodic reporting on key plant KPI's (key performance indicators) for senior operations leadershipPerform other duties and responsibilities as necessary

QualificationsRequired Education:BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalentRequired Experience:5+ years of prior experience in a cost accounting capacity2+ years of prior experience in a supervisory capacity in an accounting functionAdvanced PC skills, particularly ExcelAdvanced analytical skills and ability to analyze financial data, make informed decisions, and communicateAdvanced mathematical skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsExperience of using an ERP (ideally SAP) to control supply chain financialsAttention to detail; ensure accuracy in financial reporting and complianceStrong knowledge of accounting principles and practicesPreferred:Prior Controller experiencePrior business management experiencePrior cost accounting experience, either in a retail, food, grocery or a consumer goods organizationSAP experienceCPA
