If this sparks your interest, you’re in the right place.The team has an opening for an Acoustic Designer.DLR Group operates within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home.Preferred Office Locations:Charlotte, NCPortland, ORPosition SummaryAs an Acoustic Designer at DLR Group you will be responsible for applying your design skills in the realization of award-winning design projects. As part of our integrated design teams, you will help create buildings that elevate the human experience through design. DLR Group is an award-winning, international architecture firm with 25+ offices worldwide. Along with traditional architecture and engineering design services, DLR Group provides innovative and integrated Acoustic Design Solutions for various built environments.Acoustic Designers at DLR Group collaborate with many other design disciplines including architecture, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering, as well as interior design and landscape design. Our role includes educating, supporting, and advising many of these disciplines in various ways.The successful candidate will:Develop technical tools for use in our integrated design practice.Assist senior staff with project design reviews, documentation, acoustic calculations, sound isolation and other acoustic design work.Assist with acoustic field measurements.Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other project planners to provide acoustic design guidance on sound isolation, room acoustics, environmental noise and MEP noise and vibration control.Required Qualifications2-10 years experience in acoustic consulting or related field.Must have a degree from a 4-year college program in acoustics, engineering, building sciences or related field.A desire to learn about how acoustic design integrates into the architecture/engineering design process.Must have basic knowledge of building acoustics concepts including HVAC noise and vibration control, sound isolation, reverberation time, and sound propagation.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Strong computer, research, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Self-motivated with an ability to work in a team environment.Preferred QualificationsCompetent in the use of Revit and/or AutoCAD.Experience developing Revit tools and plugins.Experience with acoustic modeling in programs such as CadnaA, CATT, EASE and Grasshopper.Experience with acoustic field measurements (reverberation time, sound isolation, environmental noise).Experience working in the design and construction industry, and/or knowledge of design and construction processes.Knowledge or certification in LEED, WELL and other design industry acoustic criteria.DLR Group is an integrated design firm delivering architecture, engineering, interiors, planning, and building optimization for new builds, renovations, and adaptive reuse projects.We are 100% employee-owned: every employee is literally invested in our clients’ success.
