We are looking for a Project Engineer (Structural) to join our hydro group on the west coast, with potential for remote work across the country. The ideal candidate is a licensed engineer with experience in canals, levees, dams, hydraulic structures, and/or FERC projects. Applicants should hold a Professional Engineering license in California and have 5+ years of experience in hydroelectric and structural design projects.Technical work includes feasibility studies, engineering designs, preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and project management for hydroelectric facilities and new developments.Key Responsibilities:Perform site inspections and condition assessments of existing water retaining and water conveyance structures.Assess and investigate alternative methods for carrying out projects for hydroelectric facilities.Carry out structural design and analysis for various structures.Prepare and review all deliverables for projects including reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.May include quantity and cost estimating for proposed construction projects.Monitor project schedules to ensure timely completion within budget and scope.Analyze engineering reports, professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.Write or proofread reports and business correspondence.Keep project managers advised of changes in scope and prepare amendments to contracts.Prepare proposals and provide construction site support as needed.Review shop drawings and contractor’s submittals.Participate in mentorship for all levels of practice.Coordinate with external consultants and vendors for smooth project delivery.Help maintain strong relationships with clients.About You
Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering.5+ years of experience in hydroelectric and structural design projects.Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in California.FERC experience is an asset.Experience in hydraulic structures and knowledge of FERC Guidelines is preferred.Proficiency with RISA, SAP2000, AutoCAD, and Revit is an asset.Strong proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office.Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to undergo security clearance checks.KGS Group is an employee-owned equal opportunity company offering an excellent compensation and benefits package.
