The successful candidate will work to ensure the quality of our software by being involved in and leading the scoping, designing, developing, and testing software applications within the BioFire Product Development teams. They will have excellent communication skills and experience working as an active data scientist, software engineer, or software project manager, and be a strong leader.ResponsibilitiesThis position will lead a data science team to develop panel specific analysis software for the BioFire product line. The candidate would encourage and mentor team members in their current role, represent the team at a program level, help define and follow best practices, and help build a strong and productive team. Once employed, they will be embedded in a collaborative environment at a company that greatly values data science contributions. The candidate would be responsible for:Prioritizing projects and team responsibilities to meet company objectivesReviewing project documentation for good technical writing, completeness, and adherence to company guidelinesWorking with other teams to collaborate on the future integration of panel specific software into the product platformTraining and mentoring members of the Data Science teamSetting goals for the team and individual team members and working with them on a plan to achieve those goalsThe candidate should possess good management/leadership qualities, prior experience in software development and/or data science teams, and an approachable nature that encourages communication and cooperation. They should utilize this good communication and the ability to work across teams to encourage buy-in of new ideas and promote a vision for the future.QualificationsWe are looking for highly motivated individuals with the following:A minimum of a M.S. in an engineering, quantitative, or computer related discipline: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, other Engineering disciplines (biological, mechanical, electrical, etc.), Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Bioinformatics, etc. Candidates with backgrounds in life and physical science possessing a strong programming and/or data science ability are also encouraged to apply3+ years of industry and/or post-graduate experience in data science, software development, IT/IS, or a related scientific fieldKnowledge of software development practices used throughout the industryStrong communication, technical writing and presentation skillsDesire to work with people and promote a team-building atmosphereBioFire Diagnostics, LLC. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
