Perform activities in diagnostic evaluation, therapy, life-sustaining techniques, and education of patients and families of all age groups, neonatal to geriatric. Require a high level of expertise in ventilator management and sophisticated diagnostic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Respiratory assessment is completed for all age groups accurately and timely, following practice standards.A care plan is developed and implemented that reflects the needs and goals of the patient.Respiratory care is provided, evaluated, and modified to achieve goals and objectives.Patient care documentation is completed per established standards.Medications are administered safely and according to professional standards of practice and policies and procedures.Doctors' orders are acknowledged for the unit assigned and carried out as directed.Respiratory care activities are coordinated in collaboration with other care team members to facilitate achieving patient goals.Patient education needs are assessed, and education provided related to the disease process, underlying disability, medication, and preparation for discharge to help patients and families develop self-care skills necessary to move toward wellness.Mentoring and teaching are provided for healthcare team members as needed, including new staff, student rotations, orientation, and completion of their initial and all staff yearly competencies.Team conferences and meetings are actively participated in to achieve stated goals.Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.PCC Organizational Values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence are upheld.Qualifications
Education/DegreeRequiredAssociate's Degree required.Registered Respiratory Therapist.LicensureRequiredCurrent Massachusetts Respiratory Care License.SkillsRequiredBasic and advanced respiratory skills.BLS certified.Computer proficiency is required. Microsoft Office applications are preferred with the ability to learn new software.Maintain variable work schedule to meet department needs (evenings, holidays, weekends, and travel).PreferredHighly developed communication and interpersonal skills, working with a diverse population.Work independently, be self-directed, and contribute as a team member.Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.High level of service delivery.
