The Barron Center is a 219-bed, municipally operated, long-term and skilled care nursing home including a 21 bed memory care unit. The Director of Nursing Services at the Barron Center is a key position in our Senior Management team. This individual with the help of the Assistant Director of Nursing will assume responsibility for the oversight of clinical practice, regulatory compliance, and above all, commitment to meeting the needs of residents and their families. The Director of Nursing Services will supervise a stable and high functioning staff of Nurse Managers and Supervisors. We will require an energetic and experienced professional with significant long-term care experience who can set and maintain the standards for the future of the Barron center. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to oversee the department budget, regulatory compliance, staffing patterns and personnel issues.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintains effective relationships with staff, residents, family members, regulatory agencies and others as needed.

Responsible for the 24/7 delivery of quality nursing services.

Develops and implements resident care policies that reflect current standards of practice.

Participates in the development of the Division's budget.

Communicates regularly with the Medical Director and other medical staff members to discuss resident care or facility issues and assist with problem resolution.

Works collaboratively with all City divisions, employees and union representatives.

Reviews quality data, creates improvement teams, and provides oversight for process improvements.

Serves as the primary resource for regulatory compliance and survey readiness.

Ensures there are sufficient competent nursing staff.

Ensures compliance with union contracts.

Required Experience:

Current Maine licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Bachelor’s (BSN) degree.

At least 3 years' experience in nursing management.

Thorough knowledge of State and Federal regulations governing the operation of a long-term care facility.

A proven track record of success in nursing administration.

Considerable experience in rehabilitative, gerontological and long-term care nursing.

Experience with active Quality Improvement Programs.

Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively and the ability to lead a professional staff through continued change.

Preferred Experience:

Experience working in a collective bargaining environment.

Certified Wound Care Nurse.

Salary & Benefits:Non-union (D63) - Starting Salary: $98,095 - $124,283 annually.
