$25-$28/hrJob Summary:

The GIS Technician/Specialist will support GIS projects by performing GIS data capture, digitizing source documents, and creating spatial data in defined models. This role requires proficiency in Esri's ArcGIS software and the ability to georeference historical documents. The ideal candidate will also have experience interpreting metes and bounds descriptions to capture features using coordinate geometry (COGO) and perform quality control on captured data.Key Responsibilities:

GIS Data Capture : Digitize hardcopy or digital source documents to create GIS data within defined spatial data models.Coordinate Geometry (COGO) : Read and interpret metes and bounds descriptions from source data to accurately capture geographic features.Attribute Population : Input required attribute information into spatial data models as defined by project specifications.Quality Control : Review captured data, including geometry and attributes, to ensure accuracy and alignment with source documents.Georeferencing : Georeference scanned historical documents and/or images using Esri’s ArcGIS software.ArcGIS Software Usage : Utilize the latest versions of Esri’s ArcGIS software to perform all required tasks.Required Qualifications:

2-3 years of experience working with GIS data and spatial data models.Proficiency with the latest versions of Esri’s ArcGIS software.Experience reading and interpreting metes and bounds descriptions for use in GIS systems, specifically with coordinate geometry (COGO).Experience digitizing and capturing spatial data from both hardcopy and digital sources.Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform basic quality control checks on GIS data.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience georeferencing historical maps and images.Familiarity with public safety or government-related GIS projects.Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
