What you'll doAs a Principal Back-End Engineer on the Sign Platform Services, you will play a crucial role in shaping the architecture and development of our core platform services and components that power Docusign products. You will drive innovation, accelerate product improvements and lead efforts across engineering teams to modernize our tech stack and play a pivotal role in migrating legacy systems to Public Cloud.The individual must have a proven track record in building and delivering high-volume, low-latency platforms that are functional, secure, scalable, and reliable. This role demands a high degree of technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and inspire others. Strong coding is a must for this role. At Docusign, we work collaboratively as a team, boldly strive for excellence, are constantly curious and committed to ongoing learning and improvement and are relentless in our pursuit of the best talent in the industry.This position in an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Director, Identity.ResponsibilitiesWrite high-quality code that is easy to maintain and testBuild C#/.Net micro-services hosted in Kubernetes on AzureDrive quantification and experimentation as a standard practiceParticipate in the entire development life cycle, from concept to releaseSupport strategic code sharing and architecture for one or more functional areaEnsure design and architecture is extensible across multiple projects, and participate in technical design and code reviewsWork with Product Management and other developers to understand design requirements and provide estimates for developmentWork cooperatively with Product Management and Design to create features that are scalable and secureIdentify, propose, and implement process improvements to continuously increase the team's productivity and efficiencyStay current with the latest development best practices and share your findings with the teamWork as part of a cross-site development team to drive design, implementation, testing, and release of productsRaise issues proactively that might impact delivery commitmentsResearch new features and technologiesFix production issues and maintain the code as needed

What you bringBasic15+ years software development experience12 + Experience with .Net/C# for building web servicesBS or MS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent industry experiencePreferredKnowledge and experience in high scale, highly available (99.99+) systems12+ years professional experience building complex, scalable applicationsExcellent problem-solving skillsExperience in working in an agile development environmentExperience with git, continuous integration and deployment toolsCuriosity and ability to learn new technologies and tool setsExperience with Microsoft technology stack (.NET, C#, SQL Server, etc.)SaaS or Cloud experiencePrior experience aligning platform architecture with security and dataExperience with unit testing frameworks

Wage TransparencyPay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:California: $195,500.00 - $315,775.00 base salaryIllinois and Colorado: $186,200.00 - $263,000.00 base salaryWashington and New York (including NYC metro area): $186,200.00 - $276,125.00 base salaryWashington DC: $195,500.00 - $276,125.00 base salaryThis role is also eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.Global benefits provide options for the following:Paid Time Off: earned time off, as well as paid company holidays based on regionPaid Parental Leave: take up to six months off with your child after birth, adoption or foster care placementFull Health Benefits Plans: options for 100% employer paid and minimum employee contribution health plans from day one of employmentRetirement Plans: select retirement and pension programs with potential for employer contributionsLearning and Development: options for coaching, online courses and education reimbursementsCompassionate Care Leave: paid time off following the loss of a loved one and other life-changing events
