Graduate Mission Engineer and Systems Architect

, Colorado Springs, CO or Chantilly, VAThe Mission Engineer and Systems Architecture Summer Intern performs architecture-level assessment, modeling, analysis, and conceptual design activities as a member of the Mission Engineering Department (MED). MED provides expertise in architecture methods, processes, and tools to an extremely broad range of customers, including National Security Space (NSS) and other defense programs, NASA, NOAA, NNSA, DHS, and others to evaluate customer mission-integration needs and make recommendations to leaders on the risks and gaps in their warfighting capabilities to enable desired mission outcomes. Interns in MED participate in and lead architecture trade studies, architecture conceptualization studies, architecture modeling tasks, and program assessment analyses at multiple levels of complexity, ranging from prototype systems to full scale acquisition systems, to complex systems of systems, to enterprise systems. MED applies disciplined mission engineering and system architecting principles and leads cross-functional teams to provide impactful guidance to assist our customers in making key acquisition, operational, and enterprise management decisions to enable desired mission outcomes.Work ModelThis position will be located 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA, Colorado Springs, CO or Chantilly, VAWhat You'll be Doing:Apply disciplined mission engineering and system architecting methods, processes, and tools for architecture-level trades, in a broad range of architecture-level assessment, modeling, analysis, and conceptual design activitiesParticipate in a space system architecting, conceptual design, and analysis activities as part of a large cross-disciplinary team of summer internsDevelop and execute innovative methods for advancing the state of the practice of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering (DE) to enhance our customers' ability to conduct systems engineering across the architecture lifecycle.Use, develop, and integrate analytical methods and tools to evaluate architectural concepts and system conceptual designs for cost, schedule, performance, risk, resilience to disruptive events or threats, and other characteristicsClosely collaborate with other Aerospace personnel to marshal technical expertise in multiple technical disciplines and domains to enable concurrent engineering approaches to address complex problemsWork with Aerospace program office, customer, and contractor personnel to elicit and identify needs, requirements, and constraints for studies; build cross-disciplinary teams; scope, plan, and execute the study; and effectively communicate task status, methods, results, and recommendations in briefings and formal technical reportsWhat Corporate Skills You'll BringStrong written and oral communication skillsMust work well in a team environmentPossess organizational, time management and project management skillsDemonstrate flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational needInterpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizationsWhat You Need to be Successful:Minimum Requirements:Currently enrolled fulltime in an accredited college/university program pursuing a
