The Senior Network Engineer position installs, configures, and supports the organization's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN). Monitors the network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Monitor, update, and test remote sites functionality.The candidate will be part of a Network Engineering team for our federal customer and will provide Network support for a large Cisco enterprise environment, which consists of classified and top-secret networks. The team ensures the availability of a reliable/robust network transport infrastructure that provides data protection for information delivered across strategic, operational, and tactical boundaries.The candidate mentors junior IT staff on systems integration and operations, ensuring system compatibility and configuration standards are maintained. Promotes IT best practices and adherence to DOD practices and security policy.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Ensure the architecture and design of the customer's information systems are functional and secure.Provide system or network designs that encompass multiple computers and networks to include those with differing data protections/classification requirements.Develop test and integration plans for new systems and software to ensure compatibility with current IT infrastructure.Provide operational support and maintenance, when necessary, to ensure systems functionality, availability, security, and performance.Ensure all systems meet or exceed the business and security requirements in accordance with DOD directives and guidelines.Mentor junior staff and coordinate work assignments of junior administrators to ensure project schedules are maintained.Prepare technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and processes as well as Visio diagrams. Develop resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity.Coordinate resources to resolve problems when necessary. Administer and maintain classified networks and telecommunication systems and services to ensure optimum performance and availability.Maintain technical proficiency in new IT technologies; keep abreast of industry trends and make recommendations to improve or advance services and system performance.Communicate all computer network, system, and service problems and outages immediately to the appropriate chain of command. Interact and coordinate with service providers for new circuit installation, upgrade, or existing circuit move.Assist the Help Desk in network troubleshooting. Perform other duties as assigned, which entails traveling to different sites to upgrade or install network equipment.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree and 4 or more years of relevant experience.Experience with Cisco ISE.Strong hands-on experience of over 4 years in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting.Experience with Cisco devices such as Nexus 9000, ASR 1000, Cisco 4331 series routers as well as Cisco Firepower.Experience in configuring VPC, VTP, 802.1q, VLAN, Ether Channel, LACP, Access list.Extensive experience with OSPF, BGP dynamic routing protocols.Must be organized, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal to no supervision.Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and with all levels of employees; possess good interpersonal skills.Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to maintain the security standard of network devices.Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) with 6 years’ experience.CompTIA Security+.Preferred Qualifications:Possess advanced, subject matter expertise in IP-based network and telecommunication system design, administration, and support.Experience with Cisco IOS/NX-OS.Experience with Cisco VOIP/VTC and knowledge of CUCM and Cisco CMS server.Understanding of MPLS and DMVPN Hub and Spoke technology.Experience with GEM One/TACLANE network Type 1 Encryptors.Project management experience is a plus.Some experience in SolarWinds.Create SOP and be familiar with Visio.Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).Security Clearance Requirements:TS/SCI.Requirement:5% travel.Physical Requirements:Sedentary position.
