NG- Military Internship Program Description:
As one of the largest global security companies in the world, Northrop Grumman is proud to help our nation’s military personnel make the transition to civilian careers. The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. The program is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days.
Responsibilities for this internship position are:
The service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week.
Goals
– Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training.
Objectives
- Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly-trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization.
Outcome
– Offer transitioning service members a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.
DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:
Has served at least 180 days on active duty
Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
Will receive an honorable discharge
Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
Received Unit Commander written authorization to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
Position Description:
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has multiple openings for a
Weapons Engineer/Principal Weapons Engineer
to join our team. This position will be located in
Melbourne, FL and Rancho Bernardo, CA .
**This position may be filled by either at the Weapons Engineer level OR at the Principal Weapons Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.**
The Weapons Engineer is expected to be a highly-motivated self-starter with an ability to operate effectively on a team of engineers and technicians. Daily activities include evaluating electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and testing products.
The successful candidate should possess some familiarity with SMS/S&RE-related hardware and software requirements and in the definition, design, integration, test, and certification of SMS and S&RE.
The successful candidate will be expected to understand all system requirements, develop statements of work, specifications and interface control documents, prepare, monitor and update program schedules, conduct and participate in all related design reviews, and provide technical guidance to the cross-functional team.
Basic Qualifications for Weapons Engineer (T02):
Bachelor's Degree in related field with 2 years of experience, OR a Masters Degree in related field
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or higher security clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs (SAP)
Basic Qualifications for Principal Weapons Engineer (T03):
Bachelor's Degree in related field with 5 years of experience, OR 3 years of experience with a Masters in related field
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or higher security clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs (SAP)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with weapons and payload systems
In-depth knowledge of governing standards to include UAI Platform-Store ICD, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, AS5653
Active Secret clearance with access to Special Program
Salary Range:
$71,100 - $106,700Salary Range 2:
$90,400 - $135,600The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers.
