Must be a graduate of a JRCERT accredited program with a valid ARRT license with a certification in CT by the ARRT (preferred). A valid MRT license by Texas Medical Board (TMB) is required; with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The RT(R) functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of practice. The RT(R) demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in practice, and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning. The Radiologic Technologist would also assist the physician and in-charge Registered Nurse with basic patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice under the direct supervision of the Nurse Director.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Service:Maintain confidentiality of patient related issuesDemonstrate effective interpersonal skillsTreat all patients, visitors, and staff members fairly and with respectUtilize effective communication methods and skillsExplain all procedures, treatments, and care while remaining aware of language barriersAble to perform care in a non-judgmental manner and recognize discrepancies between patient and personal beliefsMust be able to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining excellent patient care and customer service.Provides supportive care to the patients under the direction of the registered nurse in charge and/or physician.Performs patient skill sets such as taking height and weight measurements, vital signs, IV initiations, blood draws, documenting as needed to assist the nurse and physician with patient care.Communicates in an effective and efficient manner with all documentation, and with all coworkers, patients, visitors, and physicians.May assist in various office duties such as front office registration activities, filing, shredding, scanning, data entry as needed or required by administration.Radiology: shows knowledge and competency in radiographic duties:Operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (X-rays) of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by physician and/or radiologist.Positions patients on the exam table appropriately and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.Practices radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patient, self, and staff.Prepares patient as necessary for examination, i.e.: contrast, proper IV placements, checking labs.Shows knowledge of job when collaborating with physician, nurses, patients, and families.Communicating effectively with co-workers, patients, and families.Maintaining professionalism in job performance and practice.Adhering to the guiding principle and policies set forth by Physicians Premier ER.Completing the ER/Radiology tech skill check off, showing competency in skill necessary to assist the nurse and physician.Facilitates departmental operations through completion of all appropriate Contrast, Extravasations, Pregnancy, and other forms related to performed exam.Possesses basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology required to apply principles of radiology and methods of exposure to obtain Diagnostic quality images.Possesses basic knowledge of radiology/CT equipment functioning to provide for minor repair and troubleshooting for problems.Reports lab and radiology results immediately to registered nurse and/or physician.Assists registered nurse and physicians with assessments, examinations, and treatment.Performs other duties such as crutch walking, dressing changes and assisting physician with splint or cast application.Assists with the cleaning of the facility and radiology department to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment as well as maintains and prepares rooms between patients and procedures.Lab: shows knowledge and competency in lab duties:Perform laboratory patient testing and reporting as assigned by the Laboratory Director.Perform laboratory tests as described in the Laboratory Procedure Manual.Collect appropriate specimens from patients by checking two patient identifiers prior to collection and labeling specimens at the patient’s bedside.Prepare or instruct patients for specimen collection in age-appropriate dialog.Prepare specimens to be sent out to a reference laboratory.Follow all laboratory safety policies and procedures.Run controls and document as described in the QC Policy.Calibrate all laboratory instruments, where applicable, as described in the laboratory Policy and Procedures Manual.Maintain all laboratory instruments as indicated by the manufacturers. In the event of instrument failure, follow the manufacturer’s troubleshooting procedures.Maintain laboratory safety equipment in proper working order to ensure their effectiveness and maintain personal protection supplies as needed.Maintain all laboratory work surfaces; clean and disinfect against potentially infectious material.Maintain all laboratory records as described in the laboratory Policy and procedures manual.Make all laboratory records and documents available for inspection by the Laboratory Director, Technical Consultant, or CLIA Inspectors.Order laboratory supplies as needed to ensure that laboratory functions and services will not be interrupted.Demonstrate knowledge of new testing methods, products, and instrumentation; remain informed on all current technologies.Responsible for documenting correct information for compliance purposes.Remain knowledgeable about appropriate testing procedures.Follow all directives in the Laboratory Policy Manual.Perform other duties as assigned.Safety/Infection Control:Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations and ER policies and procedures pertaining to safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, OSHA, fire safety, and hazardous materials.Performance Improvement:Participate in performance improvement activities as necessary.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Meets dress code standards; ensures personal appearance is clean and neat.Maintains all required certifications and licenses per regulatory standards.Responsible for wearing ER identification at all times.Attend all ER required meetings and in-service education as scheduled by the Nurse Director.Remain flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts; participates in temporary assignments.Compliance with attendance standards by reporting to work on time and as scheduled.Demonstrate flexibility when changes in assignments are necessary.Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.Maintains regulatory requirements for radiology and lab procedures.Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.Attends annual review and department in-services as scheduled.Actively participates in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.Complies with all organizational policies and procedures regarding ethical business practices.Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department.Ability to work all shifts including day, evening, nights, weekends, and holiday hours as needed.Basic typing and computer proficiency, preferably experienced with Windows, Microsoft Office, EMR systems, etc.Pass a background check.Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.Additional languages preferred but not required.EDUCATION/REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

Associate’s degree in Applied Science or equivalent with diploma/certification from accredited school of Radiology Technologist.At least two (2) years’ experience as Radiologic Technologist at a hospital or emergency room setting.Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with a Current ARRT Certification with no listed sanctions.Current Texas license from the Texas Medical Board (TMB) in good standing (No Restrictions).
