The Emergency Department (ED) Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable to the Department Director for the quality of nursing staff and the delivery of patient care during his/her shift. Responsibilities include:Direct communication with the Director and/or House Supervisor of unanticipated patient care events.Utilizing nursing personnel effectively, assisting with required scheduling, staffing, and assignments.Providing direction, supervision, and evaluation of staff as necessary.Assisting with performance evaluations and related HR activities.Ensuring supplies and equipment availability and proper use.Collaborating with other department managers/supervisors to ensure smooth coordination of services.Assessing patient care delivery and quality of care/documentation consistently.Interviewing patients/families to enhance positive patient experiences.Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAININGCurrent and valid state RN License.Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC required 30 days upon hire and maintain current.Previous supervisory experience preferred.Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting.Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certificate within 12 months of hire preferred.Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs.
