SUMMARYShift / Hours:

Monday – Friday with flex shift from 5:30am – 7pm; no call (potential Saturdays in future)Function: Provides highly skilled technical performance and supervision of all procedures in Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography studies.Scope: Impacts clinical and research imaging services and education to patients, staff and general public.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Patient CarePerforms patient care activities within professional scope of practice including but not limited to: POCT, IV insertion, patient interview/assessment/discharge/ phone education and confirmation, patient transportation, preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, etc.Ensures patient/family/staff and visitor safety at all times by monitoring his/her environment.Recognizes patient distress signs, initiates and assists with emergency response teams.Adheres to all infection control practices.Applies knowledge of Age Specific Criteria in carrying out work duties and tasks.Demonstrates ability to work effectively in all assigned areas.Demonstrates flexibility to the demands of patient care.Travel to off-site regional patient care facilities.Maintains cleanliness/orderliness of all imaging rooms, dressing rooms, and work area.Adheres to HIPAA requirements to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Critical Thinking/ Strategic AlignmentApplies critical thinking using information from clinical history, medical records, and imaging.Maximizes productivity and operational effectiveness by working with entire multi-disciplinary care team.Consistently engages in practices to expedite patient care.Demonstrates effective communication skills.Actively participates in quality and performance improvement activities/projects.

Technical AcumenDemonstrates technical proficiency required to provide high quality exams.Maintains productivity standards as defined in the section.Responsible for independent and proficient operation of all assigned nuclear medicine/PET & hot lab equipment.

REQUIREMENTSEducation:

Associate's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field.Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s Level Degree.Certification:

Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB). Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT). Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.Preferred Certification:

Additional certifications: ARRT, NMTCB - PET, ACLS, PALS/ PEARS.Experience:

None.Preferred Experience:

Imaging experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at M.D. Anderson or other experience in a related discipline.Onsite Presence:
