Job Summary
Chaplaincy Services & Education provides spiritual care and chaplaincy services to adults, children, and families facing trauma, chronic, complex life threatening conditions and death and dying. This position provides comprehensive emotional and spiritual services to patients and or caregivers, as well as all staff and physicians dealing with spiritual distress. Such services include making initial spiritual assessment, ongoing support, liaison with the spiritual community, and participation in overall bereavement assessment and follow up. Provides coordination and support for the Volunteer Chaplains, serves as a mentor to the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) student and a member of the professional advisory group. The Chaplain collaborates with other members of the Interdisciplinary team to provide education, participate in quality initiatives, and track chaplaincy activities data and outcomes. This position ministers to a diverse population and must be sensitive to all beliefs, cultural and ethnic heritage and spiritual history while addressing conflicts. The chaplain performs other duties as assigned and may be required to serve at other UC Davis sites as UC Davis Health needs warrant.Apply By Date:

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.Board Certification Required [e.g., Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC)]Faith Group Ordination and current EndorsementMaster's degree in theology, divinity, religious studies, or its equivalent in relevant training/experience.Completion of a minimum of 4 combined Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) Certified CPE Levels I and II units is mandatory.Experience in serving as a professional chaplain providing and applying current and dynamic spiritual care understandings and resources into practice.Experience in providing spiritual and emotional support to front-line staff, allied health students (as appropriate) and other health care team members.Experience and advanced knowledge in planning, implementing, and documenting a course of action involving patient care and other forms of spiritual care and guidance.Experience in working with interdisciplinary teams ensuring the highest quality of care in meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and families and providing expertise and resource on sensitive, unusual, complex and DEI cases.Possess an in-depth understanding of professionalism and collaboration; ability to independently perform the full range of responsibilities within the scope of spiritual care within an interdisciplinary team; possesses broad job knowledge; ability to analyze problems / issues of diverse scope and to determine solutions.Knowledge of a variety of religious and spiritual traditions, and of giving appropriate spiritual care in a multi-faith clinical setting.Knowledge of principles and practices of delivering spiritual care and short-term counseling to patients and families in a clinical environment. Skilled at providing spiritual support and guidance on the issues of death, dying, grief, loss, and disability.Knowledge of suicidal behavior; ability to assess lethality; and, ability to develop appropriate treatment plan.Knowledge of community resources and mandated reporting requirements for Child Protective Services (CPS), Adult Protective Services (APS) and domestic violence.Knowledge of medical terminology.Preferred Qualifications
Professional Development/specialized Certification relating to the field of Chaplaincy/spiritual care (e.g. Palliative, bioethics, mental health).Served as a chaplain in a Level I trauma center.Knowledge of suicidal behavior, the ability to assess lethality, and the ability to develop appropriate treatment plan.Key Responsibilities
