Essential Job Functions:Performs fetal sonographic procedures independently and consistently meeting image quality standards in a timely and efficient manner that assures patient safety and assists in diagnosis and treatment of the patient. Upon completed study submits images for physician interpretation.Verifies accuracy of patient demographic information, pertinent clinical diagnosis, and required technical results. Data must be entered accurately and in a timely fashion to provide optimal patient care. Verifies all technical data entry components are complete prior to the end of shift.Is knowledgeable of the process and actively participates in Ultrasound Quality Assurance activities and program.Responsible for taking call on a rotating basis, adhering to on-call policies and procedures.Actively supports organizational changes as well as the business needs of the department.Works cooperatively to accomplish additional tasks as necessary to achieve hospital/department objectives.Actively participates in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Works closely with nurses and physicians to achieve positive outcomes and optimal patient flow.Performs job functions while modeling the hospital values and core principles to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers, and others.Responsible for daily maintenance tasks, such as disinfecting all equipment and machines per Joint Commission standards, and stocking of supplies and linen.Abides by, and maintains a working knowledge of, both institutional policy and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) patient safety goals and guidelines.Other job duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) Ob/Gyn specialty is mandatory.Ability to use independent judgment and systematic problem-solving methods to produce high quality diagnostic information and optimize patient care.Basic Life Support (CPR) required.Excellent communication/listening skills, bilingual helpful.Ability to make quick, accurate decisions daily. Ability to handle stressful situations.Operates a personal computer, which includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other department specific software as required.Meet all department and institution required competencies and education.Clearly speaks person-to-person and on telephone and records accurate messages. Ability to move up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis. Ability to move patients, and equipment, on a regular basis.Education
