We are growing and are looking for the right people to join our mission and our team. This position has a primary focus on youth, but a strategic aim to encourage, connect with and develop our young adults, as well as engage in a broad range of responsibilities.Overview
The overall vision of this position is to make disciples specifically among youth and young adults in the context and community of Valley Bible Church. This role also involves broader ministry responsibilities.Youth Ministry
Lead student ministry targeting students in grades 6-12Reach and equip youth to follow JesusHelp youth discover and apply their giftsBuild partnering relationships with parentsProvide strategic weekly engagements, seasonal retreats and service initiativesEquip team leaders with their gifts to carry out the work of the ministry• Work closely with young adults to develop and encourage their spiritual growth in Christ• Create regular and periodic opportunities for young adults to connect, grow and serve such as Life Groups, retreats, mission opportunities, fun events, etc.• Help lead, strategize and plan ministry as it relates to young adults who have entered college and/or a career• Create an environment for new leaders among young adults• Provide guidance and support based on Biblical principlesGeneral Ministry Engagement
As part of the leadership team, we work together for the care of the body of Christ. This may include:Teaching and preachingCongregational careCounseling and visitationCollaborating with other ministry leaders as we serve Christ and His ChurchBack up lead pastor for funerals or crisis situationsEngage in the leadership communityKey Skills and Abilities
Growing set of pastoral skills such as leadership, teaching and counselingAbility to relate to and inspire junior and senior high-aged youthAbility to recruit and manage multiple volunteers to accomplish ministry goalsAbility to utilize tech/web/video toolsEducation and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degreeMinistry training or three years of experience in leadership of church ministryAffirming of orthodox Christian doctrine in line with EFCA Statement of Faith (Ephesians 4:11-16; 2 Timothy 3:14-17)Demonstrates a continued desire for growth and continuing educationDemonstrates a life of moral and ethical purity (1 Timothy 6:11; Titus 2:11-14)About this Church
