As a Data Migration Engineer, you will play a critical role in planning, executing, and managing data migration activities across multiple systems and platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring data integrity, security, and smooth transitions during migrations from on-premises systems to cloud environments and between SaaS applications. Your expertise will be vital in handling diverse data sources, including NAS shared drives, Box, SharePoint, SQL Server, and various SaaS platforms.
Key Responsibilities:Migration Planning:
Develop and execute comprehensive data migration plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies for diverse environments.Data Assessment:
Analyze data from various sources, including NAS shared drives, Box, SharePoint, SQL Server databases, and SaaS applications to understand data structures, dependencies, and quality.Tool Utilization:
Leverage data migration tools and technologies to facilitate migrations. This may include using ETL tools, database migration services, and custom scripts.Migration Execution:
Implement data migration processes for moving data between on-premises systems and cloud databases, as well as performing SaaS to SaaS migrations. Ensure minimal disruption to business operations.Testing and Validation:
Conduct thorough testing and validation of migrated data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and functionality in the target environment. Resolve any issues that arise during the migration process.Performance Optimization:
Monitor and optimize the performance of migrated data and systems, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and performance.Documentation:
Maintain detailed documentation of migration procedures, configurations, and results. Provide clear and comprehensive reports to stakeholders.Collaboration:
Work closely with IT teams, project managers, and vendors to ensure alignment with project goals and technical requirements. Provide technical support and guidance throughout the migration process.Data Security:
Ensure that data migration processes adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements. Implement measures to protect sensitive data during the migration.Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate) are a plus.Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in data migration, with hands-on experience in NAS shared drives (Nasuni or other similar tools like PureStorage or PowerMax), Box, SharePoint, SQL Server, SaaS to SaaS migrations, and on-premises to cloud database migrations.Technical Skills:
Proficiency in data migration tools and technologies, including ETL tools, database management systems, and cloud services. Experience with SQL Server, SharePoint, Box, NAS, and SaaS platforms is essential.Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with team members.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.Knowledge of data governance and compliance requirements.Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
