Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is seeking a Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer on the Command and Launch System Interface Design team. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program in support of the United States Air Force. This position will be located on campus in

Roy, UT

or

Huntsville, AL , and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites.

What you will get to do:

The qualified candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs). IDDs consist of capturing interfaces design details.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Create and implement Infrastructure interface design detail artifacts.

Model IDD content within the CAMEO Architecture Models.

Work with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) Point of Contacts (POCs) to create, review and support other interface artifacts (ICMs, IDDs, ICDs).

Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed IDDs.

Deliver required IDDs on time to meet program objectives.

Integrate Interface Design IDDs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes.

Identify gaps and holes within the design and/or requirements and provide a path forward for resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others while filling the gap/hole.

Ensure the developed IDDs meet the specification requirements from the various element/configured item artifacts.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Systems Engineer:

Bachelors in STEM with 2 years of experience; or master's with 0 years of experience.

Principal Systems Engineer:

Bachelors in STEM with 5 years of experience; or master's with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 0 years of experience.

U.S. Citizenship and an ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

Able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.

1 year of experience to systems engineering principles and processes.

1 year of proven knowledge of design tools including TeamCenter/NX, DOORs, CAMEO.

1 year of proven experience to read and interpret technical drawings.

1 year experience with design and fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and installations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

U.S. Citizenship and an Active Secret Security Clearance or higher awarded or reviewed in the last 6 years.

ICBM Experience.

Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction.

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.

Gathering/Generating Mechanical and Electrical Requirements using DOORS.

SysML/DoDAF experience using CAMEO.

Proven knowledge of specifications and processes as they relate to engineering model-based definition.

Proven knowledge of product development lifecycle.

Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.

Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.

Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner.

Experience in leading/supporting a development engineering team.

Demonstrated experience working with customers to ensure project success.

Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.

1 year of experience in creating IDD, IRS, ICM, or other interface related products.

Salary Range:

$75,300 - $124,900

Salary Range 2:

$92,600 - $153,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
