A Brief OverviewPerform a variety of duties in preparing patients for imaging of particular organs to furnish diagnostic information. Operates various nuclear medicine equipment to produce diagnostic results and measures therapeutic radioactive materials in specific body areas.

What you will do

\tPerforms all Nuclear Medicine Scanning procedures as outlined in Nuclear Medicine procedure manual. \t

Operates each Nuclear Medicine Scanner and ancillary equipment thoroughly and with competence. \t

Monitors and records all radioactive materials received in the department for leakage or damage. \t

Maintains and documents all records as required by NRC and DEP. \t

Prepares radioactive doses and materials for daily patient

administration. \t

Maintains quality control procedures on all equipment. \t

Operates all nuclear imaging equipment and ancillary equipment thoroughly and with competence. \t

Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures as outlined in the manual. \t

Assists physician in performing procedures and computer enhancing of images. \t

Responsibilities will require the ability to read, write and rationally comprehend the English . \t

Selects proper techniques in imaging on an individual patient basis. \t

Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients. \t

Consults with patients to obtain a complete clinical history. Gathers pertinent clinical data. \t

Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, evening/ weekend hours in order to meet the operational needs of the Department and/or Hospital. \t

Participates in quality improvement activities set forth by administrative staff. \t

Reviews patient charts for proper exam of physician’s orders. \t

Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. \t

Protects self and patients from injury and unnecessary radiation through direct visual observation. \t

Differentiates anatomical abnormalities, notifies Radiologist \t

Clinically instructs any students rotating through Nuclear Medicine. \t

Performs all computer processing and imaging to ensure quality enhancement. \t

Troubleshoots any problems that occur with equipment before calling for service. \t

Participates in “on-call” rotation in accordance with the needs of the department. \t

Rotates to all shifts as needed. \t

Assists and transports patients in emergency situations to designated areas. Arranges for transportation to and from nursing units. \t

Adjusts personal schedule in case of fluctuations in workload of the department. \t

Demonstrates ability to recognize priorities and deal with them promptly. \t

Attends all staff meetings. \t

Reports any suggestions or opportunities for improvement to manager. \t

Complies with CE guidelines set forth by ARRT and/or NMTCB \t

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Qualifications

\tGraduate of an AMA approved Nuclear Medicine Program Required

Experience Qualifications

\tTraining and experience in radiation safety and protection Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

\tKnowledge Nuclear Medicine Instrumentation, in-vivo and in-vitro procedures, computer programming and radiation safety.

Licenses and Certifications

\tNJDEP License - Nuclear Medicine Technology Upon Hire Required and \t

ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire Required or \t

NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech Upon Hire Required and \t

NJDEP Limited CT Fusion License within 1 Year Required

Full TimeDays - M-F 8a-5:30p, no weekends
