Our bold vision to transform health care is powered by our respect for our patients and our commitment to ensure everyone who comes through our doors has a positive experience.You’ll find a supportive work environment at BMC, with rich opportunities throughout your career for training, development, and growth and where you’ll have the tools you need to take charge of your own practice environment.POSITION SUMMARY:African Bridge Network (ABN), in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development (OWD), Commonwealth Corporation, Eastern Bank Foundation, and the Clowes Fund, has partnered with Boston Medical Center to host ABN fellows for a 12 week training and work-placement program in a Clinical Research Coordinator role.The ABN Fellowship is a training and work-placement program targeting foreign-trained professionals for the finance and healthcare fields. This 3-month fellowship is a direct effort to address the racial and economic barriers that skilled immigrants face in the U.S. labor market. The initiative seeks to place talented, diverse, and multilingual immigrant professionals from different regions of the world in a paid fellowship in a fast-paced work environment with financial, healthcare, or research employers. Through training and a 3-month fellowship, participants will gain the needed work experience to access jobs in their industry and advance their careers following the fellowship.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Fellows will receive upskilled training for their respective track and six-week workforce readiness training hosted by ABN. The ultimate goal of the fellowship is to provide upskilled training and U.S. workplace experience in finance, research, or non-clinical positions in healthcare to enable them to advance their careers after the fellowship. The fellowship will either be in-person or hybrid.Research Administrator TrackFellows with a background in finance, legal, or interest in careers in healthcare will complete a Research Administration course by Emmanuel College. Their placement will be in project coordination positions in the Research Administration field, handling pre-award and post-award grant management duties. The fellowship should cover some or all of the following primary responsibilities of a research administrator:Strategic Planning and DevelopmentResearch Funding and Budget ManagementResearch Compliance and EthicsResearch Administration and OperationsResearch Policy Development and ImplementationResearch Reporting and EvaluationResearch Support and InfrastructureRisk Management and Conflict ResolutionStakeholder Engagement and CommunicationProfessional Development and LeadershipJob RequirementsEDUCATION:Some past higher educational training or work-specific training, such as college exposure/past work experienceOTHER:Ability to legally work in the U.S.Commitment of 30 hours per week for the fellowship periodMust be willing to have foreign degree evaluated through WES English Language ProficiencyABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:As the primary teaching hospital for Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and BU schools of public health and dentistry, intellectual rigor shapes our inquiries.
