Charlottesville, VirginiaThe Director of Data Communication and Visualization is UVA Health’s key leader for connecting information and analysis to clinicians, executives, and decision makers supporting patient care and operational efficiency. As a member of the enterprise Analytics team, the Director will manage a team of designers and developers to create and operate a spectrum of tools delivering the right information to the right personnel at the right time.Responsibilities:Own strategic direction and implementation of UVA Health’s data visualization and exploration platform.Manage a team of developers and designers in the implementation of this direction.Define a spectrum of tools from ad-hoc self-service to bespoke that allow team members throughout the organization to access data they need to improve patient care and increase operational efficiency.Create and manage content using those tools to clearly and rationally present analysis to stakeholders in collaboration with analyst/scientist teams.Manage the delivery of timely information refreshes on multiple timelines including real-time, daily, weekly, and monthly.Oversee the testing, optimization, and performance tuning of customer-facing platforms to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.Collaborate with executives, staff, and analysts to understand their needs and translate them into visualization requirements for team members.Provide creative direction, mentorship, and structure to team members.Be a senior leader of the enterprise analytics team working with data analysts, data scientists, and data engineers to improve healthcare for all patients.Contribute to the organization’s data literacy program by helping to create materials that explain data communication and visualization best practices, show how to access and use our content/tools, and improve data-driven decisions within UVA Health.Compensation Range:
$138,403.20 - $221,436.80 AnnualMinimum Requirements:Education:
Masters degree in an analytic discipline (e.g., data science or engineering) or in a creative discipline with appropriate technical experience.Experience:
5-7 years’ experience in management, particularly of software teams.Licensure:
None.Physical Demands:This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
