Job Description:

Sr R&D Process ChemistJOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for process development and commercialization of new products. Support a cross-functional integration of activities of R&D, Business, Purchasing, and other supply chain functions on a Global scale in support of new product commercialization, process improvements, raw material economics, and security of supply. Work is relatively complex and performed independently under general direction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop products defining the manufacturing processes from bench scale studies with first-time manufacturing success.

Perform process conceptualization and techno-economic feasibility studies.

Develop fundamental correlations between process conditions and process chemistry.

Champion safe and efficient process research.

Support stage-gate processes to develop opportunities for product and process improvement.

Provide guidance for R&D during early product conceptualization to develop a testing plan consistent with the manufacturing process.

Assure that complete ISO documentation is maintained on all ISO or quality-related activities.

Participate in ISO related activities and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the ISO function.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (or other relevant science field).

Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable process chemistry and/or engineering principles and application of those principles in a research and development environment typically acquired after relevant experience.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

Advanced degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.

Experience directly related to applicable product or product category.

Process Chemistry:

Test Development and Execution of Testing:

Develop and apply physical, chemical, and mechanical testing to appropriately demonstrate and/or understand the mechanisms for our products' performance.

Formulation Understanding and Application:

Formulate lubricant and fuel additives systems addressing specified and implied needs of our internal and external customers.

Chemical Analysis and Synthesis:

Ability to create, organize, manage, and leverage technical information across the organization.

The design of experiment and the analysis of data in a statistically rigorous manner which is appropriate to the task.
