Lead Desktop Engineer

to join our team in

Chantilly, VA .

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assist with the development, deployment, and O&M of a dynamic desktop solution that is hardware-agnostic, rapidly deployable, and integrates with the customer’s current infrastructure across multiple operational and security environments, providing a common secure user experience.

Architect, design, build, and maintain the customer’s evolving desktop environment, and conduct and support operations in a dynamic environment.

Design, develop, engineer, and integrate operational infrastructure solutions including virtual desktop, on-prem, cloud and hybrid, and maintain the solution long term.

Engineer, design, test, implement, maintain, secure, and provide full life-cycle management of complex desktop solutions deployed in a large Enterprise environment.

Engineer, implement, mitigate, monitor, and tune desktop environment and management software to obtain Authorize to Operate (ATO) for new Virtual Desktop Integration (VDI) solutions. Maintain ATO for all existing systems, and delta ATOs for new capabilities.

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of Tier 2 and above support as needed (troubleshooting, problem resolution support, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Preparing and maintaining documentation for desktop solutions, processes, and procedures related to engineering projects.

Provide solutions for baseline VDI builds to ensure upgrades are incorporated before operating system end-of-life.

Ensure the application of patches, updates, and configuration changes to maintain compliance and security standards.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)).

8+ years of related experience in IT support, with at least 3 years in a Tier 2 support role.

Documented technical acumen and hands-on experience with the development and deployment of virtualized desktop deployments and support.

Knowledge of cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures.

Proficiency working on and in Linux and Windows environments.

Software development lifecycle experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degrees and certifications are desired (e.g., MS, Security+, CISSP, CCIE).

Strong understanding of hardware and software components, peripheral devices, and drivers.

Experience with system imaging, deployment, and management tools.

Advanced troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose complex issues.

Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash, Perl).

ITIL Certification or similar with knowledge of ITIL framework and best practices.

Experience with endpoint security solutions.

Familiarity with cloud services and integration (e.g., Microsoft Azure).

Clearance Requirements:

TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
