The UNM Foundation is delighted to invite nominations and applications for two distinguished Director of Development positions. These pivotal roles are essential as we enter the silent phase of our upcoming five-year campaign. The successful candidates will become key fundraising champions, primarily supporting the dynamic and fast-paced Arts and Sciences department. With a vast network of over 71,631 engaged alumni, the Director of Development, both autonomously and through synergistic collaboration, is entrusted with the design, execution, assessment, and enhancement of the unit's private-sector fundraising endeavors, with a particular focus on securing major gifts, as per the esteemed standards set forth by the UNM Foundation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and foundations, through face-to-face visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with performance targets set by the UNM Foundation and at levels defined by the Foundation.

Establishes effective working relationship with corresponding Deans, Directors, or other University leaders for fundraising matters.

Makes effective use of the prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni, and volunteers in coordination with overall objectives.

Conducts research to identify prospects and creates strategies to match prospects' interests to the priorities of the unit and the University.

Researches, writes, edits, or oversees the preparation of persuasive and accurate solicitations, proposals, gift instruments, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other communication materials in support of the unit's fund-raising activities.

Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures, backgrounds and/or beliefs.

Contributes to the overall success of the Foundation by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree

At least 3 years of successful fundraising and development experience, preferably in higher education.

Proven ability to close large private gifts.

Other Requirements

Must be able to drive personal vehicle for University and Foundation business (mileage reimbursed) and hold a valid driver’s license with current insurance, and a clean driving record. Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of criminal, driving record, and employment background screening. Some positions may also require credit background screening as well.

Compensation Salary Range:

$80,000 to $85,000

Note: Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.
