Brief Overview of PositionCredit Review is an independent contributor to the second line of defense for Texas Capital Bank and provides credit assurance and advisory services to senior management and the Board of Directors. The Director of Credit Review will serve a critical role leading the Bank’s internal Credit Review team whose mission is to help ensure the financial soundness of the Bank by evaluating risk rating accuracy, monitoring adherence to credit policy and the quality of loan underwriting practices, as well as identifying, assessing, and escalating material credit risks/issues to the Board and other key stakeholders. To provide for independence, Credit Review reports functionally to the Risk Committee of the Board of Directors and administratively to the Chief Risk Officer.

Responsibilities

Develop annual credit review work plan to meet or exceed coverage goals

Manage a team of credit review officers and help execute all credit reviews in the work plan (both continuous reviews and targeted reviews)

Ensure that all credit reviews conform with established Credit Review procedures and regulatory guidelines.

Review and approve sample plans, completed linesheets, quarterly reports of reviews, and changes to the Bank’s credit policy

Objectively resolve/decision risk rating disputes, elevate findings/issues to relevant parties, and collaborate with frontline and 2nd line of defense colleagues to remediate issues

Report conclusions and takeaways of review activities to Credit Administration, business unit leaders, Executive Risk Committee, the Board’s Risk Committee, and the Bank’s regulators

Participate in certain internal working groups and committees

Perform follow-up to resolve and validate remediation of issues opened by Credit Review and other parties.

Develop and maintain constructive relationships with colleagues in the business units, Credit Administration and other groups in the Risk Organization, Internal Audit. Provide information and assistance when appropriate.

Maintain relevant knowledge of key credit-related risk, compliance, and legal matters.

Mentor/develop members of the Credit Review team

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or related field or any combination of training, education, or experience

Minimum of ten (10) years demonstrated successful experience in underwriting, portfolio management or Credit Review of a commercial/wholesale lending portfolio, or comparable experience as a consultant or financial regulator with primary responsibility for the assessment and performance of commercial lending programs. Specific experience in determining risk ratings is required

Superior knowledge of and experience in underwriting financings of commercial real estate, C&I companies, and/or other specialized industry verticals

Strong organization and time management skills and an ability to work independently with limited supervision

Strong abilities to analyze data and identify trends and root causes

Proven people and project management skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to document conclusions clearly and concisely

Ability to function efficiently in a team environment
