We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist who works as part of the Surgical Team to ensure that patients receive a premiere, evidence-based experience. The Surgical Technologist prepares for and handles the instrumentation, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure while maintaining a sterile field. He/she shares responsibility for the processing and sterilization of surgical instrumentation and maintaining documentation of the sterilizer and implant records. He/she may assist with clinic duties as assigned by the Medical Director or Director of Nursing.Reports to: Director of NursingResponsibilities:

Prepares for surgical procedures by pulling appropriate supplies and instrumentation and planning ahead for upcoming surgical needs.Performs the surgical scrub, sets up the sterile back table and Mayo stand with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medication/solutions needed for the surgery.Assists with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field. Secures tubing, cords, and other sterile accessories.Participates in the surgical site and patient verification during the time out.Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by passing instrumentation and supplies to the surgeon during the procedure. Assists the surgeon during surgery as needed.Participates in counting of sharps and sponges with the Circulating nurse.Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique and universal precautions during surgery.Disposes of sharps and trash and places used supplies in the decontamination room for washing and processing. Prepares instrumentation for cleaning following each case. Assists members of the team with turnovers between surgeries.Processes instrumentation from decontamination to sterilization and ensures instrumentation is in proper working order.Continually evaluates the core processes for redesign and engineering to improve operations, reduce cost, recycle time, and enhance service.Establishes and maintains effective communication and collaboration with employees and medical staff while creating a work environment that promotes positive attitudes, creativity, optimal productivity, and continuous learning.Complies with reports and recommendations for external authorized agencies, such as accreditation, certification, and regulatory bodies.May assist with clinic duties as assigned.Annually reviews policy and procedures.Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program. Certification as a Surgical Technician.Experience:

One year of operating room experience and knowledge of sterile processing.Skills:
