Supervisor Nursing - Command Center @ Swedish First HillFull TimeVariable ShiftThe Clinical Supervisor is accountable for assisting the Manager in the management of clinical and operational activities, and able to provide patient care. Participates with the Manager and peers in establishing and enforcing standards of patient care and nursing practice pertaining to the unit in accordance with Swedish's Mission, Vision and Values.The Clinical Supervisor oversees and develops clinical and non-clinical staff, working in close collaboration with the STOC leadership to ensure development and competency of clinical staff. Mentors and develops all staff members. The Supervisor coordinates the general operations of the STOC and demonstrates a wide range of general nursing knowledge. The Supervisor acts as a mentor and role model for caregivers in the development of problem-solving, assertiveness, and leadership skills. The Supervisor also collaborates with the STOC Manager and other departments across the Swedish region and within Providence. Key skills required for this position include effective communication, functioning in crisis/urgent situations, and real-time follow-up with department managers, Directors, and staff.This Supervisor is accountable for patient flow, capacity, quality, and experience of nursing services at the facility level in support of the Swedish Medical Center system and regional goals. This includes, but is not limited to, assuring safe, efficient, and effective patient placement balanced with optimal patient care and services. Mentors staff and promotes the professional practice of staff.Monitors staff compliance with standards of care, hospital, and nursing policies and procedures to ensure safe scope of care.Handles conflict resolution with positive outcomes and coaches/supports staff likewise.Involves staff in decision-making processes.Identifies own professional growth and development needs and acts appropriately.Identifies opportunities for continuous process improvements.Completes assignments/projects in a timely manner and requests assistance as necessary.Ensures that all services within STOC are provided in a timely and accurate manner.Assigns duties to clinical and non-clinical staff.HUMAN RESOURCES:

Participates in all components of staff hiring, staff development and motivation, and promoting employee recognition.Coaches employees on performance.Initiates disciplinary process as required by policy, documenting and delivering corrective action when necessary.Final corrective action and disciplinary process could include termination. All disciplinary processes must be conducted along with STOC Manager involvement.Assists with coordinating staffing and scheduling.COMMUNICATION:

Serves as a communication liaison between nursing staff, providers, hospital leadership, etc.Uses proactive problem solving with all STOC customers and health care team members to ensure the timely admission and placement of patients in the right bed.Keeps STOC care team members informed of changes affecting the services provided.Assists in maintaining an environment conducive to job satisfaction for staff members.Establishes and promotes collegial relationships with members of the health care team, services, administration, and ancillary departments.BUDGET AND STANDARDS:

Gives input and regularly reviews departmental policies, procedures, and standards of practice consistent with hospital philosophy/mission as well as licensing and regulatory agencies.Interprets policy for staff as needed.QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:

Supports Quality Improvement Process as a method for evaluating the quality of care.Provides feedback to staff on quality improvement issues.Supports the STOC sensitive quality indicators and patient experience improvements to achieve top decile performance in conjunction with the department of nursing.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree

Applicants without a BSN degree must actively pursue and attain a BSN within five years of hire. Continued employment by Swedish beyond five years is contingent upon attaining the BSN degree. Registered Nurses employed by Swedish prior to December 1, 2012 are encouraged to pursue the BSN degree, but obtaining the degree will not be a condition of employment.
