As an Advanced Software Engineer, you'll be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for research and development of cybersecurity software for the US Navy. This team is responsible for software development and integration of systems supporting the cybersecurity posture of the US Navy.Preferred Skills or Experiences
Design and architect new software components in Java, C, C++, and Python to meet program needs.Lead a small group of developers by managing day-to-day tasks, assigning deadlines, and leading code reviews.Organize, coordinate, and lead an agile Scrum team with two-week sprints.Communicate technical and programmatic issues to management.Research, identify, and evaluate new technologies for adoption by the Navy.Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis.Integrate COTS and GOTS tools, including open source products and API-driven integration efforts.Build multi-tier software solutions, including database design and integration.What Sets You Apart
Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including configuration management and good coding practices.Experience in writing, testing, and deploying production-quality software.Software development experience using Java (JAVAFX), Spring, C/C++, Python, and other languages in a Linux environment.Experience in leading a small software development team.Ability to manage day-to-day tasking for a small group of developers.Experienced in DevOps/Agile methodologies.Experience using Linux, preferably Red Hat or derivatives.Knowledge of containerization technologies on Linux OS (Docker, Podman, k8s, RKE2) and familiarity with hypervisor-based virtualization.Experience with open source software and custom software, as well as integration between software applications using middle tier integration and data-driven models.Experience in cybersecurity best practices.Strong written and oral communication skills.Technical problem-solving ability for large and complex software systems.Equal Opportunity Employer Veterans/Disabled
While an hourly range is posted for this position, an eventual hourly rate is determined by a comprehensive salary analysis which considers multiple factors including but not limited to: job-related knowledge, skills and qualifications, education and experience as compared to others in the organization doing substantially similar work, if applicable, and market and business considerations.
