Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and driven

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

to join our team! ANS Geo is a rapidly growing, emerging civil engineering firm focusing on civil, geotechnical, and structural engineering for renewable energy and infrastructure projects across the US.

Must-have Profile

BS in Civil Engineering;

Minimum 10 years of experience in consulting engineering or Geotechnical Engineering;

Professional Engineer (PE) license;

Experience in planning, implementing, and managing large-scale subsurface investigation programs, as well as related laboratory testing, foundation design, preparation of contract documents, and project management;

Experience managing at least 3 to 5 direct, technical staff reports;

Business development and client relationship experience, proven by examples or references;

Valid US Driver’s License, and a reliable means of transportation;

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products;

Deep working knowledge of geotechnical software such as gINT, GeoStudio, LPILE, ALLPILE, DeepEx, PLAXIS;

Flexibility and openness to travel to conduct field investigations, for up to several weeks full-time at a time;

Communication skills, ability to find solutions to problems, and a get-it-done attitude!

Nice-to-have Skills

MS in Civil Engineering (or related geotechnical specialization), or advanced technical training;

NCEES Records account, with ability to obtain multi-state PE licensure;

Experience in geophysical testing and evaluations, including active and passive MASW and ERI;

Active participation in professional and community societies;

Familiarity with energy sector, including oil and gas and onshore/offshore wind;

Experience with trenchless technologies such as jack-and-bore, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), microtunneling, and geotechnical investigations/reporting to support these technologies.

Challenges Ahead

Working alongside a team of high-performing engineering and technical professionals;

Reviewing engineering reports, drawings, and specifications, and working in a multi-disciplinary environment with other technical disciplines to fulfill project scope and responsibilities;

Overseeing the management of geotechnical field investigations, construction observation, and engineering evaluation and technical analysis completed by junior staff;

Preparing technical reports and summaries, and interfacing directly with agencies, clients, coworkers, and stakeholders to communicate findings and recommendations;

Completing and reviewing technical analyses prepared by others, including shallow and foundation design, support of excavation, slope stability, ground improvement, and other geotechnical analyses;
