The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process. She/he implements the Nursing Service standards of care and practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served and the areas of clinical practice. Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu by fostering an awareness of the Behavioral Health Services patient population. Communicate respect by honoring personal space and using a non-threatening/non-challenging/non-judgmental approach. Utilizes the nursing process in the systematic assessment and formulation of individualized plans of care to meet patient needs. Demonstrate critical thinking in the assessment, planning, prioritization, delivery and evaluation of patient care. Documents data collection and assessments plans of care interventions and patient responses per policy. Identifies changes in the patients’ condition and basic patient care needs, institutes appropriate interventions per policy and refers accordingly to the BHS provider. Demonstrates knowledge of 1:1 patient observation protocol (Constant Observation).Identifies individualized patient/significant other learning needs and implements appropriate measures to meet needs. Communicates therapeutically during every patient interaction/encounter. Demonstrates knowledge, respect and sensitivity of patient's rights. Serves as a patient advocate. Assures confidentiality of patient information. Follows Patient Identification Policy. Collaborates with other health care disciplines to coordinate patient care activities and discharge plans.Qualifications

Currently licensed and registered to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Must possess current BLS certification.
