San Diego . The Banker Development Program at California Bank & Trust is a credit and business development training program. Designed to grow well-rounded banking professionals with strong analytical and relationship management skills, the program provides robust training and career guidance. At the end of the program, participants will be well-prepared for a career at California Bank & Trust.The Banker Development Program Offers:Exposure to different lines of business within California Bank & TrustA solid foundation in the basics of banking and creditOpportunity to apply finance and accounting skills to credit and business risk and credit analysisExposure to associates throughout the EnterpriseAccess to a network of BDP analystsThe program consists of two phases that focus on education, experience, and exposure.Phase I – Initial Training Phase (3-4 months)The majority of training for the Banker Development Program will take place in San Diego. You will also have two 2-week trainings at Zions Bancorporation’s headquarters in Salt Lake City and one 1-week training at either Vectra Bank’s headquarters in Denver or Amegy Bank’s headquarters in Houston. During this portion, topics surrounding introductory banking, analytical concepts, and bank-specific administration will be covered. Some travel may be required to complete this phase.

In addition to the self-study materials, during initial training Credit Analysts participate in:Case Studies and Discussion Sessions to review concepts introduced in the self-study materialsTraining to perform credit underwriting according to bank policyBank compliance and regulatory training coursesIntroductions to senior managementDepartment tours to provide an overview of bank operationsPhase II – Rotations (7-9 months)The primary objective of the Rotational Phase is on-the-job training. The rotational system offers each Credit Analyst in-depth exposure to various banking lines and banking groups, which facilitate the placement process and ensures the development of well-rounded Bank Officers. Various areas host Credit Analysts for rotations on an ongoing basis, dependent on departmental need and geography. Some of the business line opportunities for rotation are listed below:Leveraged FinanceLending ServicesBusiness BankingMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related subjectMinimum overall GPA of 3.0 (include GPA in resume or cover letter)Completed 6 hours of college-level coursework in Accounting, including Managerial and Financial AccountingExcellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skillsDetail-oriented, organized, analytical, and proven problem-solving abilitiesLeadership skills and community involvementWorking knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferredInternship or prior work experience is preferredParticipants who successfully complete the Banker Development Program can anticipate an exciting career path in banking, where upon completion you will be prepared for permanent internal placement within the organization.This position is eligible to earn a base wage of $31.25 hourly.Please apply no later than October 13, 2023 to be considered for this position.
