General Purpose of Job:

This position will perform and deliver on routine assignments/projects while leveraging and applying knowledge of their assigned area(s) of Financial Reporting responsibility. They will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting on activities associated with accounting principles and standards, and financial statements.

The Role at a Glance:

As a Specialist, Financial Reporting (Statutory), you will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting on activities associated with statutory accounting principles and standards, and financial statements.

What you'll be doing:

Prepare, analyze, and report on financial statements and supporting schedules according to the accounting and reporting calendars.

Conduct financial analysis on consolidated and business unit results, providing ongoing support for business unit teams and various partners as needed.

Participate in accounting close activities, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.

Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned areas of responsibility and collaborate with management to incorporate new trends and developments.

Identify and research reporting issues arising from application of accounting principles and standards and assess their applicability.

Prepare, review, and file quarterly and annual NAIC financial statements and other regulatory filings.

Promote and enhance organizational initiatives by supporting change management and departmental/enterprise initiatives.

Identify and communicate to management process improvements that reduce workloads or improve quality.

Provide support with the coordination of SOX, MAR, and regulatory testing to comply with key controls developed for the group.

Preparation and/or review of internal management reporting.

What we’re looking for:

Must-have’s:

4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Degree in Accounting preferred.

1 - 3+ Years of experience in Financial Analysis or Reporting that aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work with others in a team environment.

Ability to identify and recommend process improvements.

Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.

Ability to use sound judgment and discretion regarding confidential information.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nice To-have’s:

Prior experience in insurance/financial services.

Experience working with Hyperion Essbase, SAP Business Objects, PeopleSoft, Workiva, Sovos Statutory Reporting.
