Position OverviewKiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) has an opening for a seasoned and dynamic Senior Environmental Manager. The ideal candidate will have experience working on complex transportation-related environmental planning projects in California, Texas, Colorado, Utah, Oregon, and/or Washington and with agencies such as state DOTs, FHWA, FRA, FTA, FAA, USACE, FERC, etc. Work will occur in other states. The successful candidate will have proven experience in project management and subconsultant management. The person in this position will work with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams comprised of internal peers, clients, and subconsultants.

District OverviewKiewit Infrastructure Engineering seamlessly transitions solutions from design to construction through the collaborative efforts of Design Engineering, Design Management, Proposals, Estimating, and Integrated Project Controls. Our construction-focused engineering approach involves a multidisciplinary team working together to maximize value for clients by improving schedules, controlling costs, and minimizing risk on infrastructure projects. This integrated strategy emphasizes collaboration and constructability throughout the project lifecycle, enabling us to identify and implement quality solutions with a strong safety focus.

LocationThis position is based in our Lone Tree, CO office.

Responsibilities

Reviewing environmental documents, RFPs and other documents.

Leading a team in the preparation of scope, schedule, and budget for technical proposals.

Collaborating with schedulers to include environmental and permitting requirements in the overall project schedule.

Collaborating with estimators to include environmental costs in proposal budgets.

Leading environmental planning and permitting processes and document preparation for infrastructure projects.

Serving as technical lead for a variety of infrastructure projects during conceptual planning and design through environmental approvals and permitting for construction.

Developing documents that meet the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, and Section 404/401 of the Clean Water Act, and Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act.

Collaborating with transportation planning, engineering, urban design/landscape design, and other disciplines as needed.

Performing quality reviews of deliverables to client requirements to ensure high-quality products are produced on time and budget.

Coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, and in-house personnel on a regular basis.

Preparing for and conducting public and agency involvement activities.

Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with various levels of agency personnel.

Providing guidance and support to less experienced staff on technical and professional issues.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or Engineering.

20+ years in progressively more complex environmental planning roles.

Mastery of Microsoft 365 products to perform assigned tasks.

ESRI ArcGIS skills a plus but not required.

Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.

Base Compensation: $135,000/yr - $180,000/yr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
