Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:The Rapid Response Team (RRT) Registered Nurse is responsible for the coordination of Code Blue and Rapid Response Team assessment of patient prioritization and additionally responds to Code Stroke calls. Responds to rapid response alerts; facilitating appropriate nursing care for urgent/emergent potential and actual clinical deterioration, and implementing advanced nursing interventions for optimal patient outcomes, including Point of Care Ultrasounds, iSTAT laboratory, and performance of ABGs and insertion of Intraosseus devices. Acts as the clinical resource for physicians and staff, and evaluates patient scoring for potential deterioration, ensuring inclusion in surveillance rounding to enhance patient care. Duties also include development of practice guidelines, data collection and analysis, education and evaluation of patient care during a rapid response or near miss event. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Provides safe and culturally sensitive patient care in accordance with UCI Health standards and policies. The RRT nurse is accountable for addressing the patient/family biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and educational needs.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:Working knowledge of Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements present in an acute care settingStrong customer service orientation as well as written and oral communication skillsMinimum of 5 years recent clinical nursing experience in ICU or EDMinimum 2 years of recent experience in an acute care hospital settingDemonstrated leadership skills evidenced by leadership in a variety of areas including but not limited to: leading a project, team, or council; acting as PCC, alert nurse or preceptor; or teaching a class/skills lab or acting as a clinical instructor.Current California RN licenseComplete understanding of acuity levels for specific patient populationsCCRN or TCRN upon hireBasic computer literacy and proficiency with MS Word and MS OutlookAll external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in NursingAbility to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidaysAbility to read, write and communicate effectively in EnglishAbility to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environmentAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
