Datalink Engineer, Journeyman NGTSLocation: [Location not specified]Position Summary and Job Responsibilities:Team Background:
The Synthetic Environment Modeling (SEM) team develops the government-owned, developed, and managed software product known as Next Generation Threat System (NGTS). NGTS supports modeling and simulation (M&S) environments; trainer systems; test and evaluation (T&E); analysis; live, virtual and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. The Next Generation Threat System product is a continually evolving synthetic environment generator that supports multiple platform/services training, testing, analysis, and research and development.Typical Day supporting the NGTS team:Designs, documents, implements, and tests Datalink Simulation Models and associated simulator hardware.Performs datalink software development based upon customer requirements.Technical review of customer requirements and participate in test planning meetings.Develop test plans and procedures, and schedules.Execute test events, collect data and conduct analysis, create reports.Operate data link systems and equipment.Collaborating with team members. Interfacing with datalink models.Working with industry, SMEs, and operators to push the state of the art in simulation used for platform Operational Test and high-end training.Required and/or Preferred Qualifications:Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Technical experience with Datalink Link 16.Good understanding of basic computer networking.Good understanding of computer system design and software development (C++ Preferred).Ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.Must have the ability to accommodate a hybrid schedule (1-2 days a week in office) with a mandatory.Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Technical experience with C Band, Ku Band, Common Data Link.Technical experience with Link 11 and OTH Gold.Technical experience with SADL, JREAP, Link-22, VMF, CSAR/CSEL, MADL.Knowledge of data analysis methods and tools.Able to evaluate tactical communications emerging technologies.Experience with Linux Operating Systems.Education:BS in Scientific or Engineering Discipline. Degrees in Aerospace, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics may qualify as substitutes.Minimum Years of Experience:3 years relevant to work area.
