Opened in 2022, the Dallas office is a key infrastructure hub where we work on the latest cloud technologies in a cutting-edge environment.The Role

G-Research’s Infrastructure group is looking for a Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer to join its expanding global team in Dallas.The Infrastructure group covers a diverse portfolio of products and services and has an automation-first approach, with a focus on automating the platforms we use from top to bottom.It manages things like bare metal and virtual server provisioning, and management of on-premises and public cloud services, utilising technologies such as VMware, OpenStack, Kubernetes and AWS.As a Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll primarily work on delivering the on-premises cloud platform, powered by OpenStack and Kubernetes. You will help to design, build and support this private cloud platform and help drive its adoption and expansion. To do this, you will collaborate with a range of Engineering, Security and other Infrastructure teams.Key Responsibilities

Designing, deploying and maintaining a highly scalable and secure cloud platformEnsuring running workloads are deployed optimally on the private cloud platformRecommending and implementing continuous improvements to the cloud platformEnsuring the platforms are configured and maintained from codeContributing to the upstream OpenStack and Kubernetes open source projectsRunning performance diagnostics and tuning of the entire stackCapacity planning to ensure seamless scale-out without affecting servicesSecurity-hardening the platforms and supporting systemsUtilising monitoring and observability leveraging tools such as Prometheus, Elk and SplunkProviding platform support with on call elementThere is a large focus on applying automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), alongside the use of CI/CD tools and methodologies in all of our engineering work.We use open source tooling and best practices to increase the pace of delivery, and have embedded a continuous improvement culture and philosophy across the organisation.Who Are We Looking For?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:A background in running, maintaining and upgrading large production cloud platformsVirtualization experience, such as OpenStack, KVM and/or VMwareExperience with Linux and troubleshootingTerraform and/or Ansible experienceThe ability to script or code, ideally in PythonExposure to network administrationKnowledge of CI/CD and VCS tools, such as Jenkins and GithubKnowledge of container technologies, such as Docker and KubernetesExperience of using IaC principles to manage infrastructureWhy Should You Apply?
